West Ham winger Felipe Anderson may be staying at the club next season after Napoli and former club Lazio withdrew their interest.

The 27-year-old has been with the Hammers since 2018, departing Serie A for the London Stadium in what was a club-record move at the time.

Although there were strong rumours that he would be leaving the club – after falling out of favour with manager David Moyes – it now looks like the Brazilian will not be going anywhere this summer.

According to the Daily Star, Napoli are no longer interested in signing Anderson, with Lazio set to follow suit and end their pursuit. Both Serie A giants are believed to be moving on to other targets, choosing not to do business with West Ham this transfer window.

Napoli’s signing of Lille star Victor Osimhen was certainly a key factor in ending their pursuit, after paying a record £63m for the Ivorian. Meanwhile, Lazio have decided they do not want to re-sign Anderson, who spent five years in the Italian capital before switching to London.

West Ham want a sizeable fee for Anderson, and want to minimise any potential losses they may make after spending close to £35m on him. They’re open to offers, and acknowledge that it will be difficult to recoup the full amount given the state of club finances around the world.

Anderson had an underwhelming season for West Ham, missing a third of their games across all competitions. Compared to the previous season, he played 32.5% fewer games, while managing less than half the goal contributions. The Brazilian scored just once all season, in the 4-0 rout of Bournemouth on New Year’s’ Day., though he contribute five assists.

To date, he has made 67 appearances for the Hammers since arriving in east London, and has two years left on the deal he signed when moving to the Premier League.
